About the Beach
What is Praia do Ourigo Beach?
Lifeguarded Beach from to
days for the start of bathing season
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Porto.
Praia do Ourigo Beach, part of Praia da Foz Beach, is characterized by its thick sand, flanked by two rock formations at the endings.
The beach is very well known because of a tradition still enduring nowadays called "Banhos Santos1", dated from the sixteenth-century and held in tribute to São Bartolomeu. According to ritual, parents have to bath their children three times to ward off bad luck and curing diseases.
Access is granted through Rua Coronel Raúl Peres2.
