Viewpoint of Rocha Conde de Óbidos

A beautiful staircase that comes up from the Avenida 24 de Julho¹ takes us to the Viewpoint of Jardim 9 de Abril, also known as Viewpoint of Rocha Conde de Óbidos².

We’re standing opposite to the Terminal de Cruzeiros da Rocha Conde de Óbidos³, right to the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga⁴, in the town of Estrela.

Everything is in motion. Between passengers, containers and cranes, cruise ships and freighters say farewell to their tasks. The train passing between the pier and the avenue brings us to a different speed, another time. But here we go, calmly embraced by the garden, like someone sitting on the bench, reading, thinking…

Despite the low altitude of this viewpoint, we are very close to the Rio Tejo⁵, which makes perceptible the steep riverside cliff of Almada’s side.
