Viewpoint of Penha de França

A small cobblestone square with two wooden benches pleasantly surrounded by the shade of two olive trees, make the scenery of the Viewpoint of Penha de França, located on the Rua Marques da Silva¹, opposite to the Igreja da Nossa Senhora Penha de França².

The square is rather small, however, the wide perspective reaches the innermost and neighbouring towns of Lisbon.

Right before us, we have Praça do Chile’s³ intersection, hidden by the buildings’ height. Highlighted by the surrounding urbanization, in the background, are two black and symmetrical buildings that belong to the Instituto Superior Técnico.

Slightly to the left, densely wooded, Rua Pascoal de Melo⁴ extends bound to Largo Dona Estefânia⁵.

On the perspective’s far right, we sight Rio Tejo⁶ running through the pillars of Ponte Vasco da Gama⁷, a riverside location also known as Mar da Palha⁸.
