Description
The National Museum of Natural History and Science (in portuguese, Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência) is the group of museums of Universidade de Lisboa created in . However, its origin goes back to the 18th century, time when was called Real Museu de História Natural e Jardim Botânico.
The garden, with more than a century of existence, opened to the public in the year (it's located near Bairro Alto and Príncipe Real). Also part of the museum's collection is the Observatório Astronómico de Lisboa, situated at Tapada da Ajuda, and the once facilities of Universidade Politécnica.
In a museum space as beautiful as diverse, it is possible to find a historic library, a seed bank, herbaria, and species of arachnids, birds, insects, mammals, reptiles and fish. All this and much more, in a total of about 20 exhibitions at the disposal of visitors that include a theme always exciting for the kids, dinosaurs.
The exhibition Allosaurus: um dinossauro, dois continentes promises to delight children and make their imagination fly millions of years into the past. Here, exists a set of temporary exhibitions which bring a permanent novelty effect to the activities of the museum.
