Description
The House Fernando Pessoa is located in the traditional neighborhood of Campo de Ourique and during was the (last) residency of Fernando António Nogueira Pessoa.
With Luís Vaz de Camões, Fernando Pessoa is considered the epitome of Portuguese literature and his works are known worldwide. The emotionally charged texts still carry today in words the deepness of the soul who created them. His words were shared on his own behalf and through the creation of fictitious personalities — the heteronyms — Alberto Caeiro, Álvaro de Campos, Ricardo Reis, Bernardo Soares, among others. Coming out of the a genius's mind, all had distinct and complex personalities, the poets created by the true Poet.
The house-museum where Fernando Pessoa lived between and , was designed by the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa and opened to the public on the . In this space, one finds objects which belonged to the writer like his glasses, notebooks and the typewriter that so much literary magic helped to create.
We also highlight the possibilities of visiting Fernando Pessoa's private library and the existence of a restaurant at the house-museum, the Flagrante Delitro.
Inaugurated in 1993, the Casa Fernando Pessoa occupies the last residence of the one who is considered the biggest Portuguese poet of the 20th century. The renovation and adaptation of the premises, where a library with the poet's works and the books he used to read has a prominent place, were conducted by the Italian architect Daniela Ermono and engineer Paula Nobre.
