About the Beach
What is Praia Velha Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Ílhavo.
Praia Velha Beach, integrated in Praia da Barra Beach, is part of the Ria de Aveiro1 mouth by the south margin. It is also known by Praia do Farol da Barra Beach.
The very extensive sand is flanked a small pier to the north and a much longer one to the south with about 900 meters length.
In the central area arises majestic the biggest beacon of Portugal, the Farol de Aveiro2.
This beach is very attended by the guests of Parque de Campismo da Praia da Barra3.
Access is done by multiple points, including via ferry boat.
