About the Beach
What is Praia Grande do Guincho Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Cascais.
Praia Grande do Guincho Beach discloses a very long and wide sand. The dune system follows all the beach length and gets wider towards south, were ir was subject to human intervention in order to preserve it.
On top of the north cliff can be seen the Forte do Guincho1.
The Ribeira da Foz do Guincho2 cuts the sand in the middle.
This beach is very crowded by surfers and other wave sports fans, like windsurf and kitesurf due to the constant wind coming from north, called "nortada" and its agitated sea waters. Due to these facts several international sport events take place at this beach.
The parking lots can be accessed at the beach ends or in the central area, beside Parque de Merendas do Guincho3 and Estrada Nacional 2474.
