About the Beach
What is Praia das Furnas Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Vila do Bispo.
Praia das Furnas Beach acquired its name due to the heavy erosion on its limestone cliff, origining several cracks and caves1.
This is the place where the Ribeira do Vale Pocilgão empties.
Next to the west entrance, the sand is wide and extends to east in a thin strip of sand of about 600 meters.
At the east cliff face there's a very handy cave for those seeking a break from the sun.
