About the Beach
What is Praia da Ilha de Tavira (Mar) Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Tavira.
Praia da Ilha de Tavira (Sea) Beach, also known as Praia das Cascas Beach, is located at the sandy Ilha de Tavira1 in Ria Formosa (a valley eroded by rivers and with sandy islands which is flooded by the sea, turning the water into brackish) territory. It has a very long sand with about 1,2 Km.
In the east, bathing area is bounded by a pier that belongs to the mouth of the Rio Gilão ou Séqua3bar.
This beach was once considered by the prestigious Lonely Planet magazine as one of the top ten world travel destinations for family vacations.
