About the Beach
What is Praia de Vale Pombas Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Peniche.
Praia de Vale Pombas Beach has a sand with medium extension, divided in two by a rock cluster that marks the border between the counties of Peniche and Lourinhã. In the edges, where the cliff is higher, there are more sets of rocky sediments.
In the north part of the beach, where the sand is wider and the cliff is lower, exists a small cascade flanked by a green lawn.
In 1996 were discovered fossilized bones of a dinosaur herbivore, the Zby Atlanticus, a species unknown to the scientific community until then.
The access is done by Estrada do Paimogo, following by a pedestrian trail near to the cliff that begins nearby the Forte de Nossa Senhora dos Anjos de Paimogo.
