About the Beach
What is Praia do Alvorião Beach?
It's an Oceanic Beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, located on the coast of Portugal - Iberian Peninsula - in the municipality of Odemira.
Praia do Alvorião Beach is located in front of Quinta Altavista do Carvalhal, a tourist accommodation. There are two distinct areas of sand interspersed by rocks, being the most known the one in the south part. The sandy area to the north becomes accessible during low tide, after transposing a slab of big dimensions.
In the sea, it is advised some caution to bathers due to the presence of rocks and slabs.
This beautiful landscape presents us with a tall rock cliff and high scarps which accompany the sand through all its length. There's a trail on the south part of the cliff that allows descending into the sand, near to the open wide area used for car parking.
The access is done through Estrada Nacional 1201, turning to the sea direction on the crossroad with the sign "Azenha do Mar". From here, follow strait until finding Praia do Carvalhal Beach and cross to the next hill where one will find the lodge aforementioned.
