The Viewpoint of Nossa Senhora da Porciúncula, so called as it?s located in Igreja da Nossa Senhora da Porciúncula?s yard1 ? also known as Igreja Paroquial de Santa Engrácia2? doesn?t seem to have been built for a viewpoint?s purpose, however, happy days, as it?s standing in a somewhat highland offering us a beautiful view over the Rio Tejo3.

From Rua de Santa Apolónia4, we make our way up through the Calçada dos Barbadinhos5, and coming closer to the church we already notice the viewpoint?s grating. The access gate is not always open. The churchyard is huge and there is a cruise right on the spot of the viewpoint.

Its elevation doesn?t allow us to see more than the Rio Tejo3 and some of the closer rooftops near the riverside area of São Vicente de Fora.
